Real Madrid vs Barcelona Match Preview

Cristiano Ronaldo has never beaten Barcelona's goal. Lio Messi, on the other hand, has been unable to score against a squad commanded by Jose Mourinho.

Barcelona and Real Madrid play a kind of football that's clearly above the level of any other squad in the Spanish league. With 84 and 76 points respectively, they've opened a sixteen-point gap from the third place, jealously guarded by Valencia.

Saturday's clash might define La Liga, but it'll be just the beginning of a restless fight for the triplet. Barcelona and Real Madrid meet each other once again next Wednesday for the Spanish Cup final, before taking on for Champions League semi-finals.

It's been 30 Liga matches since Barcelona was lastly defeated. Pep Guardiola's Blaugranas have only fell once in La Liga this season, as newly promoted Hercules visited the Camp Nou in the second round.

Mourinho's Galacticos, on the other hand, have already been defeated thrice. Sporting Gijon delivered a fatal blow two weeks, defeating Jose Mourinho at home for the first time in nine years. It was also Madrid's first fall at the Bernabeu this season.

Pep Guardiola misses Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal and Javier Mascherano. Sergio Busquets is likely to join Gerard Pique in the back line, with Seydou Keita as the nexus between the defense and the attack.

Jose Mourinho has both Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain available, but it's expected Karim Benzema will be given the opportunity to join Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria on the attack.

A clash of Olympian proportions for the 32nd La Liga's round, who'll claim the three points?

Barcelona's attack is the most effective in the league, just as much as their defense. Having scored 85 goals in 31 Liga matches, the Cule squad has only conceded 16 goals.

After 15 Liga matches, Real Madrid's goal has only been beaten seven times at the Santiago Bernabeu. Barcelona, on the other hand, is the deadliest visitor in the league, with 43 goals in the same fifteen games.

Jose Mourinho must seriously consider who'll join Xabi Alonso in the midfield, for Lass Diarra and Fernando Gago are ruled out due to injuries, while Esteban Granero won't be able to perform due to disciplinary action.

Cristiano Ronaldo looks forward to break its Blaugrana curse this Saturday. The first time he faced Barcelona (when he playing in England for Manchester United), he missed a penalty shot at the third minute of the game. The Red Devils managed to lift the Champions League that season, but it was Paul Scholes who became the hero in Old Trafford.

With Real Madrid, the Portuguese has been defeated three times so far. It's been 510 minutes of football for Ronaldo without breaking Barcelona's goal.

A vital derby for the Spanish league. The winner will claim the upper hand for the next three Clasicos. Let the show begin.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Match Preview

Chelsea and Manchester United will clash in an all-England UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals first leg at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Brazilian defender Alex is also ruled out for the Blues, along with Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun.

Carlo Ancelotti told the official Chelsea website he expects a tough test from United tomorrow night. “We are focused, concentrated and we want to move on. If we believe we can win play better than Manchester United then we can win.”

United could be boosted by the return of defender Rio Ferdinand, the England defender has been ruled out for two months with a calf injury. Brazilian midfielder Anderson could also return for the Red Devils.

Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview

Real Madrid will play host to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals first leg on Tuesday.

Both teams will enter this game on the back of a disappointing domestic result at the weekend. Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 home defeat in La Liga at the hands of Sporting Gijon, a result that was manager Jose Mourinho’s first home defeat in league play since 2002.

Tottenham were held to a 0-0 draw at struggling Wigan Athletic, a result that means they are five points behind the top four and struggling to guarantee participation in this tournament next year.

Star winger Cristiano Ronaldo is ruled out with a hamstring injury for Madrid, while Karim Benzema and Marcelo are ruled out due to injuries picked up while on international duty last week.

Defender William Gallas is doubtful for Tottenham with a hamstring problem, while Steven Pienaar is ruled out due to a groin injury.

Winger Gareth Bale, who has been a revelation so far in this tournament, looks likely to recover from an injury in time to play.

KEY PLAYERS

Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid) – With Ronaldo and Benzema out injured the German playmaker will be responsible for driving the Real attack and creating a lead to take to White Hart Lane in the second leg.

Sandro (Tottenham Hotspur) – The Brazilian workhorse is an unsung hero in the Tottenham engine room. He covered vast amounts of ground in the second leg against AC Milan to defend a 1-0 lead. With Madrid likely to spend large amounts of time in possession, Sandro will be a key figure in shielding the Tottenham back line.

Inter Milan vs Schalke 04 Match Preview

Inter reached the last eight after eliminating Bayern Munich in a rematch of last year’s final, while Schalke advanced by eliminating Valencia 4-2 on aggregate.

Inter will be without Brazilian defender Lucio due to suspension. Wesley Sneijder will feature in midfield for Inter, and spoke glowingly this week of Schalke striker Raul, who Sneijder played with at Real Madrid. “He was a true Madrid captain, and he helped me a lot when I had just arrived, like a real boss. It will be nice to see him again because I haven’t seen him since leaving Madrid.”

Raul will lead the Schalke attack, but forward Mario Gavranovic will not feature after suffering a season ending ankle injury. Germany defender Christoph Metzelder will play in a protective mask after breaking his nose in Bundesliga play against St. Pauli last Friday.
